About
András Löw is a veteran Hungarian ultramarathoner from Budapest, born October 26, 1967, who has competed across ultra-distance running since the mid-1980s. He is one of the most prolific finishers of the Spartathlon, the notoriously difficult 246km run from Athens to Sparta, having started and finished the race at least 14 times between 2000 and 2018, with his best result a 6th-place finish in 27:46:27 in 2001. On the track he set a personal best of 242.297 km for 24 hours at Basel in 1994 and later won the 2005 Sárvár 24-hour race with 222.999 km. His 100km best is 8:04:02, set in 1993, and he has also completed the Marathon des Sables multiple times and represented Hungary at IAU World and European ultra championships. Across a near four-decade career he has logged 139 recorded results totaling more than 18,400 km.
