About
Andreu Blanes Reig is a Spanish polymath of mountain speed disciplines, born October 14, 1991, in Onil, who has excelled across orienteering, road running (8:33 in the 3000m steeplechase), cross-country, and mountain racing to become one of the most versatile Spanish athletes of his generation. A former orienteering national team member with top-10 World Championship finishes, he fully transitioned to mountain running with extraordinary results — winning Sierre-Zinal 2022 in 2:29:19 to become only the second Spanish man in history to win that iconic race after Kilian Jornet. He also claimed silver in the team up-and-down race at the 2022 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships and finished 3rd at the 2025 Trail World Championships Short Trail (4:51). His combination of navigation skills, cross-country speed, and mountain-specific strength makes him one of the most complete athletes on the European circuit.
