Andrew Hagen is a Stellenbosch-based South African mountain and ultra-trail runner sponsored by Vibram who built one of the most consistent competition records on the South African trail circuit across the 2010s. Competing in the M40-44 age group, he accumulated 32 race finishes and a UTMB Index of 636. His signature performance came at the 2014 RMB Ultra-Trail Cape Town — a 100km race through the mountains and coastline above Cape Town — where he placed 2nd overall in 11:45:26. He also won the 55km Lesotho Ultra in 2013 (6:07:22), finished 4th at Bryce Canyon 50 Mile in Utah in 2017 (9:34:12), placed 12th at the UTCT 97km course in 2017 (11:36:09), and podiumed again at the Marloth Mountain Challenge in 2018 (2nd in 8:00:51). That same year he tackled the legendary La Diagonale des Fous — the 168km volcanic traverse of Reunion Island, one of the sport's most atmospheric races — finishing 138th in 37:30:12. He remains one of the leading figures from the South African trail scene who tested himself on the international circuit.
