About
Annette Bednosky is an American ultrarunner and school counselor who built a 12-year competitive career out of the mountains of Ashe County, North Carolina, where she lives in the small town of Jefferson. Born 27 November 1966, she became one of the strongest mountain 100-mile runners of the mid-2000s, winning the Western States 100 outright as the top female finisher in 2005 in 18:39 (13th overall) and taking the women's title at the Massanutten Mountain 100 in 2004. She was a two-time winner of the Mount Mitchell Challenge 40-miler and finished 3rd at the 2004 Mountain Masochist 50-miler. Bednosky represented Team USA at the IAU 100km World Championship in Seregno, Italy in 2012, and spent eight years on the Montrail/Mountain Hardwear Racing Team before withdrawing in 2012 due to a nervous-system condition that ended her competitive career.
