About

Beau Miles (born 1979, West Gippsland) is an Australian adventure runner, documentary filmmaker, author, and former outdoor education lecturer who earned his PhD at Monash University before leaving academia in 2021 to make films and self-imposed endurance challenges full-time. His feats include running 650 kilometres across the Australian Alps in 13 days, a 'marathon in 24 hours at one mile per hour' project, and a 4,000-kilometre kayak attempt around the southern tip of Africa. His YouTube channel became a global hit after a 2019 film about running 43km along a hidden railway line went viral, and has since attracted millions of followers who track his backyard adventures and deliberately mundane endurance challenges. He is the author of The Backyard Adventurer (2021) and one of adventure running's most creative and distinctive voices.
