About
Bethan Male is a British physiotherapist and endurance athlete from Brighton, England, now based in the Côte d'Azur, France. A childhood swimmer who rebuilt from a serious ankle injury through cycling and triathlon — completing a sub-10-hour Ironman Barcelona — she came to ultramarathons through her husband and rapidly established herself as one of Britain's dominant ultra-trail women. Her results include the Montane Lakeland 50 in 2019 (9:26:02), the UK Ultra South Downs 100km in 2021 (course record 9:26) and 2023, and — most notably — the women's course record at the Centurion South Downs Way 100-Mile in 2022 with a time of 16:49:57, a mark that stood for three years. Methodical in her approach, she used her 2022 SDW50 performance (7:12, then the fourth-fastest women's time ever) as a deliberate stepping stone toward that 100-mile record attempt.
