About

Catra Corbett — known in the ultrarunning community as the 'Dirt Diva' for her brightly dyed hair, piercings and tattoos — is an American ultrarunner from the San Francisco Bay Area whose journey to the sport began as a path out of addiction. After dropping out of high school and serving time in jail for selling methamphetamine in her twenties, she got sober in 1994, went vegan, and discovered trail running as a form of therapy; she has stayed vegan for over two decades since. She has gone on to complete more than 250 ultramarathons and finished 100-plus-mile races over 100 times, an extraordinary volume matched by few in the sport. Her signature achievement came on the John Muir Trail, where she set the women's fastest known time for the 425-mile route from Yosemite to Mount Whitney, completing it in 12 days, 4 hours and 57 minutes. She finished 3rd woman at the Moab 240 in 2019, wrote the memoir Reborn on the Run about her transformation, and continues to compete and speak publicly about addiction recovery and plant-based endurance nutrition into her fifties.
