Chad Ricklefs is an American ultrarunner born June 12, 1967, in Lafayette, Indiana, and based in Boulder, Colorado, where he works as a Natural Resource Planner for Boulder County Parks and Open Space. He began competing in ultramarathons nationally in 1998 and built his early reputation on the trails, winning the Leadville Trail 100 Mile twice, in 2000 and 2002. He later shifted his focus to the roads, where he became one of the most decorated American ultra-road specialists of his generation: national 100k Road Champion in 2002, national 50 Mile Road Champion in 2004 (posting the year's fastest American 50-mile time of 5:24), and USATF Ultrarunner of the Year in 2002. He also represented the United States internationally, running 32:53:34 at the Spartathlon and placing 11th overall at the 2011 IAU 100km World Championships in Winschoten, Netherlands, where his 7:07 helped the US team win team gold and earned him the individual World Masters 100km title.
