About

Cheung Man-yee is a Hong Kong trail and ultrarunner, and orthopaedic doctor at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, who has become one of the most accomplished mountain runners to emerge from Hong Kong. She took up trail running in 2017 and progressed through the city's competitive trail scene with remarkable speed before stepping onto the global stage. Her most celebrated feat came when she became the first female Hongkonger — and only the second woman in history — to complete the 298km Hong Kong Four Trails Ultra Challenge, covering the distance in 57 hours and 51 minutes despite fighting through a severely twisted ankle en route. Internationally, she represented Hong Kong at the 2023 IAU Trail World Championships in Austria, finishing 37th in the 80km long-course race. In 2024 she made her UTMB Mont-Blanc debut and finished 17th in the women's field. She has since continued to win at home and abroad: in 2025 she won the Ultra Trail Mount Fuji outright, placed third female at The North Face 100 Hong Kong, and in 2026 won the Rinjani 100 (162km) as first female. A practising physician who commutes on foot to work, Cheung is a compelling example of what elite ultrarunning performance looks like alongside a demanding professional life.
