About
Dave James is an American ultrarunner from North Salem, New York, who built a career as a two-time reigning U.S. 100-mile trail champion while working as an EMT and pursuing medical school. He broke into the sport's top ranks by winning the Umstead 100 Mile Endurance Run in 2009 (15:05:10) and the Javelina Jundred the same year in 14:20:54, results that established him among the country's fastest 100-mile trail racers with a personal best of 14:20 on trails. He won the Coastal Challenge stage race in Costa Rica in back-to-back years, represented Team USA at the IAU Trail World Championships in 2011 and 2013, and competed for the national team again in Wales and Poland in 2013 while on leave from his first year of medical school in St. Kitts.
