Ekaterina Mityaeva is a Russian trail runner, skyrunner, and mountain ultra specialist who holds the extraordinary distinction of earning Master of Sports status in five separate endurance disciplines: athletics, skyrunning, ski mountaineering, orienteering, and radio orienteering (ARDF). She came to competitive sport through orienteering, representing Russia at the ARDF World Championships in Seoul where she won gold, silver, and bronze across different categories. In 2010 she met Dmitry Mityaev — fellow trail runner and later her husband — and together they transitioned to trail in 2013, when Ekaterina placed second on debut at the Konzhak Marathon in the Ural Mountains. Her rise through the international circuit was rapid: across 34 career starts she logged 33 top-10 finishes, 19 podiums, and 12 victories at premier mountain races worldwide. Highlights include back-to-back bronze medals at Marathon du Mont Blanc (2016 and 2017), her outright win at Ultra Pirineu 110km in 2018, third at Transgrancanaria 127km in 2018, and a fourth-place finish at UTMB in 2019 — the best result at that race by any Russian woman. In 2014, she and Dmitry co-founded Trail Running School, an Adidas Terrex-supported coaching platform with a global following of over 20,000. She most recently won the women's race at the Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB Elephant 100 in 2024. An Adidas Terrex athlete for over a decade, Mityaeva remains one of the sport's most complete mountain specialists.
