About
Emanuela Scilla Tonetti — known in Italian trail running simply as Scilla Tonetti — is an Italian mountain ultrarunner from Gallarate, near Milan, who races as an ambassador for Ferrino and the Ferrino Women Team despite training in the flat Lombard plain with the Alps visible only on the horizon. She has become one of the leading women at the Tor des Géants, the 330km loop through the Aosta Valley with roughly 24,000m of cumulative elevation gain that ranks among the hardest ultra-distance races in the world: she finished 6th woman in 2017 and improved to 2nd woman in 2018, a race she ran with a deliberately conservative start and barely 90 minutes of sleep across the entire effort. She has also won the Courmayeur Winter Eco Trail by Night, adding a strong record in winter mountain ultra racing to her summer results. Tonetti's results place her among the small group of Italian women capable of consistently contending for the Tor des Géants podium.
