About

Émilie Lecompte is a French trail and ultra-trail runner born on 2 July 1979 who has competed at the highest level of long-distance mountain running for nearly two decades. A Mountain Companion (Accompagnatrice en Montagne) by profession, she moved into trail running in 2009 and rapidly established herself on the international stage. Her defining victories came at the Grand Raid Réunion — the Diagonale des Fous, the 163km traverse of La Réunion island — which she won twice, cementing her reputation as one of France's finest women over the longest mountain distances. In 2012 she set a new women's record for the GR20 traverse of Corsica, improving the previous mark by more than nine hours. She organises mountain sports travel and stages and has written extensively about trail running.
