About
Erik Skaden (born 1972) is an American ultrarunner from Folsom, California whose peak years in the mid-to-late 2000s placed him firmly among the top 100-mile specialists in North America. A multiple-time Western States 100 finisher — including a 2nd-place finish in 2007 and 8th overall in 2009 (18:22:44) — he built his most celebrated results at the Tahoe Rim Trail 100, where he co-won the 2008 edition to claim his first USATF 100-Mile National Championship, then returned the following year to defend his title outright in 20:27:32. His back-to-back TRT victories came while he was also logging top-ten finishes at Western States, demonstrating a consistency across high-mileage 100-mile racing that was rare in that era. A winner of the 2007-08 Montrail Ultra Cup, Skaden's longevity and durability made him a respected voice in the elite ultra community for well over a decade.
