About
Ester Alves is a Portuguese ultrarunner and scientist who arrived at trail running via a prior competitive career in rowing at World Cup and World Championship level, followed by cycling. She holds a degree in Biology and a Master's in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources from the University of Porto, and has worked as a researcher alongside her running. Her standout international result came at UTMB, where she posted the best-ever finish by a Portuguese woman with an eighth-place performance in 2015, earning a place on the Salomon team. A multiple Portuguese national champion in both trail running and skyrunning, she has also placed top-ten at Transgrancanaria and remains one of Portugal's most prominent endurance athletes.
