Fiona Maxwell

Fiona Maxwell is a British ultra-trail runner whose competitive career spanned more than a decade, from 2008 to 2019, across the Alps and beyond. She reached the podium early, taking third in the women's field at the 2008 CCC (Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix), the marquee 100km companion race to UTMB, in a time of 16:44:27, and followed it with another bronze the next year at the Trail Verbier St-Bernard Traversée. Her racing took her well beyond the Alps too, including a 2015 finish at The North Face Transgrancanaria in the Canary Islands and a stint on a British team at the 273km GORE-TEX Transalpine-Run in 2011. Still racing into her senior years — she competed as recently as 2019 at the Devil o' the Highlands — Maxwell represents the long-haul, lifelong-athlete tradition within European trail running.
