Ford Smith is an American trail and ultrarunner from Austin, Texas, born around 1996, who became one of the sport's most prominent young prospects when he won the Black Canyon 100K at just 18 years old in February 2015, earning a Western States 100 golden ticket. He discovered trail running in his mid-teens after struggling with his weight, entered his first 50-mile race within months of starting, and balanced competitive running with a history degree at the University of Colorado Boulder. He returned to winning ways in 2018 with victories at the Bandera 50K and the Run Rabbit Run 50 Mile, and is the founder of UltraNative, a community-focused organisation reflecting his interest in sustainability and outdoor culture.
