About

Gina Slaby is an American ultrarunner and U.S. Navy Supply Corps officer from New York's Hudson Valley who took up running as an adult solely to pass the Navy's fitness test before developing into one of the sport's most surprising record-breakers. At the 2016 Desert Solstice track meet in Arizona she ran 100 miles in 13:45:49, breaking Ann Trason's 18-year-old world record by two minutes. On the trails she has won the Vermont 100 outright as first female (2016), the HURT 100 in Hawaii, and the Plain 100 in Washington, often racing alongside her husband and training partner Steve Slaby, with whom she has posted top-10 overall finishes at HURT 100, Capitol Reef 100, and the Lumberjack 100. She has twice qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials marathon.
