About
Harry Subertas — full name Haroldas Subertas — is a Lithuanian-American ultrarunner, environmental scientist, and truck driver who grew up in Lithuania, moved to the United States at 18, and found his way to Southeast Alaska where he completed a semester-long mountaineering course and spent seven years as a professional guide before earning a degree in environmental science from the University of Southeast Alaska, Juneau. He relocated to Reno, Nevada while maintaining a home in Haines, Alaska, and in 2024 swept two of multi-day ultrarunning's most demanding races while still working as a truck driver: winning the Tahoe 200 and then the Cocodona 250 in a course record of 59:50:55, seizing the lead only in the race's final miles. Named #8 in the 2024 Worldwide UltraRunner of the Year standings despite having no plans to turn fully professional, Subertas is one of trail running's most compelling archetypes: a world-class competitor who remains grounded in ordinary working life.
