About

Henri Aymonod was born on 15 February 1996 in the Aosta Valley, Italy, and grew up with a deep respect for the mountains that shaped his athletic career. He started cross-country skiing at 7, biathlon at 10, and competitive mountain running and ski mountaineering in his teens. His breakthrough came at the 2014 World Mountain Running Championships in Massa Carrara, where he represented Italy as a teenager. He won the Mountain Running World Cup overall in 2021 — a crown earned through a remarkable series of vertical race victories — and is a multiple Italian Vertical Championship winner. A longtime The North Face athlete, he won the Transgrancanaria Vertical Kilometer in both 2025 and 2026 and has won the Challenge Stellina. He is one of the most complete vertical specialists of his generation.
