About

Honoka Akiyama (born September 29, 1993) is a Japanese trail and mountain runner who competes for the Nagano Police Force and has established herself as one of Japan's most decorated athletes in mountain running. The 2021 Japanese National Sky Champion, she has been a consistent representative for Japan at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships, including ninth place at the 2023 Innsbruck World Championships and twelfth in the Long Trail event at the 2025 edition. A winner of the Ueda Vertical Race and the 2026 Mt. Fuji Asumi 40K — a prestigious event during the week of the Mt. Fuji 100 — she brings strong mountain speed and high-altitude experience to her 2026 Western States 100 debut. Her career, built through Japan's competitive mountain circuit under the structure of a police force team, reflects the depth and seriousness with which trail running is pursued in Japan.
