About
Jean-François Cauchon is Canada's top-ranked ultrarunner by ITRA — a civil engineer from Québec City who has built a race résumé spanning the Caribbean, the Alps, and the Canadian wilderness while maintaining the down-to-earth character that has made him a fan favourite in Québec's flourishing trail running scene. He has won the Ultra-Trail Harricana du Canada twice and claimed back-to-back victories at the TransMartinique, a demanding multi-day stage race through the volcanic terrain of Martinique. At the 2024 Québec Mega Trail 100-mile, Cauchon smashed the course record by more than 34 minutes, finishing in 19:01:25 in one of the standout Canadian ultra performances of recent years. He also competed at UTMB in 2017 and reached the top ten at the Grand Raid de La Réunion Diagonale des Fous in 2019, confirming him as a genuine international performer. Sponsored by HOLOS nutrition, BV Sport, Ciele Athletics, and Xact Nutrition, he was also the subject of a HOLOS-produced documentary exploring his relationship with nature and endurance sport.
