About

Jesse Haynes is an American ultrarunner from California who has been competing in ultras since 2011 and, now in his early fifties, continues to perform at the sharp end of multi-day racing against competitors half his age. He won the 2023 Moab 240 in 70:47:49 in one of the event's most dramatic finishes: he led the 240-mile Utah desert race for over 100 miles, was reeled in late by Aaron Kubala, fell behind by three miles with twenty to go, then launched a sprint in the final miles to win by just five minutes over Jeff Pelletier. His résumé includes finishes at the Bigfoot 200 and the Hardrock 100 Endurance Run alongside a long list of 100-mile results accumulated over more than fifteen years of sustained ultra competition. A Patagonia-sponsored athlete, Haynes represents the self-made longevity of a runner who treats endurance sport as a permanent vocation rather than a peak-and-retire career arc.
