About
Jessica Pekari is one of the most remarkable figures in American trail running — a U.S. Army veteran who deployed to Iraq as a medic, a mother of three, and a woman of Blackfeet and Mexican heritage who has consistently expanded the boundaries of what is possible on foot while using her platform to speak about PTSD recovery and indigenous identity in the outdoors. She burst onto the ultrarunning scene in 2018 when she won the Moab 240 women's race in 77:26:01 and set the women's Triple Crown of 200-milers record — completing the Moab 240, Bigfoot 200, and Tahoe 200 in a combined 230 hours, 24 minutes and 21 seconds within a single season. In September 2023 she set the women's supported southbound Pacific Crest Trail fastest known time — 63 days, 7 hours and 31 minutes across 2,650 miles from Canada to Mexico — earning a Trail Runner Magazine FKT of the Year nomination. She has also set the Colorado Trail northbound unsupported record and written about her journey in her memoir Bombs to Trails: Interweaving Heritage, Life, and PTSD on the Pacific Crest Trail.
