About
Jonas Russi is a Swiss ultrarunner and massage therapist from Basel who runs the Russi Massagepraxis practice and counts rock-and-roll among his defining passions — an unconventional background for one of the sport's most quietly dominant multi-day performers. He debuted at the Tor des Géants 330km in 2021, led before being overhauled late by Franco Collè, and finished second; he returned in 2022 determined to top the podium, led the race from start to finish despite racing less than a month after placing eighth at UTMB, and won in 70:36. He followed it with a dominant victory at the Lavaredo Ultra Trail by UTMB 120km in 2023, pulling away at the 80km mark to win by 18 minutes in 12:13:04 — having only finished sixth at the same race the year before. His two signature wins in radically different formats — a 330km multi-day alpine traverse and a single-day 120km mountain race — mark him as one of the most versatile mountain ultra talents in contemporary Swiss running.
