Kathy D'Onofrio-Wood is a pioneering American ultrarunner based in Truckee, California, born July 20, 1964, who dominated US 100-mile racing through the mid-to-late 1980s. She won the Western States 100 in both 1986 — at just 21 years and 11 months old — and 1988, added the Leadville Trail 100 title in 1989, and won the American River 50 Mile twice, in 1984 and 1990. Her results show remarkable longevity at the front of the sport: runner-up finishes at Western States in 1985, 1989, and 1993, at Leadville in 1987 and 1998, and at American River in 1993, along with starts at the Miwok 100K, Wasatch Front 100, and Hardrock 100, spanning nearly two decades of top-level competition.
