Kenichi Yamamoto, born in 1979 in Nirasaki, Yamanashi Prefecture, is a Japanese trail runner and physical education teacher at Nirasaki Technical High School who became one of Japan's earliest crossover stars on the global ultra circuit. He finished third at the 2012 Mt. Fuji 100 (21:15:02), and that same year became the first Japanese runner to win a major European ultra when he took the Grand Raid des Pyrénées 100-miler. He also cracked the UTMB top 10 twice, placing 8th in 2009 and 10th in 2011.
