About
Laurence Maurin is a French trail runner who has demonstrated sustained excellence across decades of mountain and trail competition. A member of the UTMB running community since the inaugural era of the sport, she finished second in the women's race at the 2006 CCC (Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix, 86km) — a result that announced her as one of France's most capable mountain runners at a time when the event was still finding its identity. She followed that landmark performance with a string of podium finishes throughout the 2010s, including a women's victory at the Verdon Canyon Challenge (50km) in 2012 and a runner-up finish at the Signes Trail (51km) in 2015. With 32 races completed in the UTMB system and a career-best index score of 636, Maurin has shown particular strength in mid-to-long distance trail events. In 2023 she tackled the Marathon des Sables, one of ultrarunning's most iconic stage races, completing the 235km multi-day event across the Moroccan Sahara and finishing 15th in the women's category — a result that underlines her continued appetite for extreme endurance challenges well into the veteran age groups.
