About
Lucinda Sousa is a Portuguese trail runner and physical education teacher from Gondomar who became the dominant force in Portuguese ultra trail running after making her race debut in 2013 — and winning on that very first attempt. She was Portugal's highest-ranked athlete in the World Ultra Trail Circuit for five consecutive years (2015–2019) and is the Portuguese athlete with the most participations and best classifications in the Trail World Championships. She has served as captain of the Portuguese national trail running team, representing the country at major international events including the UTMB (2017), the Trail World Championships, and races in Annecy, Lavaredo, Cappadocia, and South Africa. Her career, begun in her forties, stands as a testament to late-blooming excellence in endurance sport. She holds a Master's degree in Adapted Physical Activity and has spent 25 years in sport and physical education.
