About
Lucy Gossage (born 1981) is a British doctor, oncologist, and former professional triathlete who has built an extraordinary endurance career across two disciplines over two decades. She studied medicine at the University of Cambridge, earning a PhD focused on kidney cancer, and now works as an oncologist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust while competing at elite level and co-directing the Move Against Cancer charity, which raises funds for cancer research and patient support. In triathlon she spent a decade near the top of the sport: twice European duathlon champion (2012 and 2013) and a 14-time Ironman winner across races in the UK and Europe. She then pivoted to ultrarunning, making a remarkable debut at the 268-mile Montane Winter Spine Race in 2024 by finishing third, then returning in January 2025 to win the race outright — covering the full Pennine Way from Edale to Kirk Yetholm in 87 hours and 41 minutes. She also set the course record at the South Downs Way 100 that year. A clinician and competitor who makes no compromise between her two worlds, Gossage is one of endurance sport's most compelling figures.
