About
Manuel Lago is a Brazilian ultramarathoner and physical education graduate who took up the sport in 2009, at age 33, when mountain ultrarunning was still little known in Brazil, and has since become one of the country's foremost references and coaches in the discipline. His breakthrough international result came at the SBTR 100km trail race in Santa Barbara, California, around 2016, which he won outright in roughly 12 hours 2 minutes -- of only three finishers among thirty starters -- despite encountering a bear on the course during the race.
