About
Marc Lauenstein is a Swiss trail runner, dentist and father born September 15, 1980 in Cormondréche, Neuchâtel, who built an elite career in orienteering before transitioning to trail running with outstanding results. As an orienteer he earned silver medals at the 2005 and 2006 World Orienteering Championships on the long distance and bronze as part of the Swiss relay team in 2005. In trail running he has matched that pedigree with a remarkable series of wins: World Long Distance Mountain Running Challenge (2009), Sierre-Zinal (2013), Pikes Peak Marathon (2014), Marathon du Mont Blanc (2015), Three Peaks Race (2016), and the UTMB OCC (2017). He also became the first runner ever to complete South Africa's iconic Otter Trail in under four hours — a course record regarded as a significant achievement in African trail running. A Salomon-sponsored athlete who describes himself as a trail runner, father, dentist, and former Swiss national team orienteer.
