At the 2023 High Lonesome 100 — a 100-mile race through the Sawatch Range with 23,500 feet of vertical gain and a course high point of 13,150 feet above sea level, one of Colorado's most altitude-demanding hundos — she held the women's race lead for nearly two-thirds of the course, building a gap of close to one hour before being caught by Flagstaff runner Georgia Porter at mile 85. Porter pulled clear in the final miles to win in 24:52:00; Watson held on to finish 2nd in 25:09:00 in a closely contested race.
