About
Martin Magengo Kiprotich was born on 6 April 2003 and is a Ugandan cross-country and mountain runner affiliated with Uganda Police Athletics Club. He shot to international prominence at the 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Bathurst, where he placed 18th individually and helped Uganda win team bronze. He represented Uganda at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the 10,000 metres, finishing 22nd with a personal best of 28:20. In 2025 he claimed the Ugandan National Mountain Running title in Kapchorwa and went on to earn silver at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in the up-and-down classic race — his first individual world championship medal and a historic result for Ugandan mountain running. He is rapidly emerging as one of Africa's premier mountain runners.
