Martin Nilsson is a Swedish trail runner and skyrunner who made an immediate impact when he entered the international scene in 2023: in his debut competitive season he became Swedish trail running champion, earned a medal at the European Skyrunning Championships, and won the national Trailtour of Sweden — a sweep that announced a significant new talent in European mountain racing. Beyond running, he is known for bringing a curiosity about human rights, culture, and travel to his approach to the sport. In 2025 he continued his rapid ascent with two major skyrunning wins: the Hochkönig Skyrace in Austria, a premier event on the Merrell Skyrunner World Series, and the Tatra Skymarathon in Slovakia. With a UTMB Index of 916 and strong results across both skymarathon and skyrace formats, Nilsson is one of the most exciting young talents in European mountain racing.
