Matt Hammerton is a British trail runner who announced himself in 2022 with a win and course record at the Centurion Wendover Woods Night 50km. He has become a podium fixture in Centurion's South Downs events: fourth at the SDW100 in 2024 (15:04), second at the SDW50 in 2025, and outright winner of the SDW50 in 2026 in a time of 5:47 — the second-fastest performance in 14 years of the race. He also podiumed at the Wendover Woods 50 mile in 2024. His UTMB Index of 722 reflects his standing as one of the most consistent trail racers on the UK ultra circuit.
