About
Maud Giraud, later known as Maud Gobert after marriage, is a French trail runner born April 25, 1977, from Valloire in the French Alps, where she worked as a ski instructor and competed in ski alpinism races. She burst onto the trail running scene in 2009 with an exceptional season — winning the Grand Trail des Templiers, Marathon du Mont Blanc, SaintéLyon, and the French Trail Championship in the same year, earning the titles of best female trail runner and revelation of the year in France. She then won the IAU Trail World Championships in 2011 in Connemara, Ireland — the pinnacle of the sport at the time — and claimed a second Templiers title the same year. Her career blended a natural mountain athlete's background with elite results across the French and international trail circuit, and she remains one of the most significant French trail runners of the late 2000s–early 2010s era.
