About

Maude Mathys is a Swiss professional trail runner and former ski mountaineer from Ollon who left a decade-long career as a nurse in 2018 to race full-time. She came up through ten years in track and field before discovering trail running and ski mountaineering in 2006, joined the Swiss national ski mountaineering team in 2012, and translated that mountain fitness into becoming a three-time European trail running champion and world championship silver medalist. She has rewritten record books at some of the sport's most storied short courses, smashing the women's course record at Switzerland's Sierre-Zinal and taking more than 12 minutes off the previous best at the Pikes Peak Marathon in Colorado. At her peak she held the world No. 1 spot in the ITRA women's rankings. Racing for Salomon, she has continued to add international wins, including a dominant victory at Spain's Olla de Nuria in 2:21:52, nearly 13 minutes clear of the runner-up, while balancing elite competition with motherhood.
