About
Maxime Cazajous is a French ultra-trail runner from Nay in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques who works the land in Béarn between training blocks and has become one of the region's most celebrated endurance athletes. His signature result came at the 2018 Diagonale des Fous (Grand Raid de La Réunion), the 167km race across Réunion Island's volcanic terrain, where he finished 3rd in 24:40:04 behind a tied victory between François D'Haene and Benoît Girondel -- a result that put him briefly in the world top five of ultra trail rankings. Closer to home, Cazajous has been the man to beat at the BK 42 in Bidarray, remaining undefeated there since 2016 and winning again in 2025 in 4h40'31" after fending off a determined early challenge from Damien San Martin. He remains a fixture on the Pyrenean and Réunion Island circuits, drawing a strong following of local support whenever he races.
