About
Nicolas Martin is a French trail runner born on July 29, 1986 in Saint-Martin-d'Hères, Isère, who played football until age fifteen before discovering trail running through his cousin. After competing as an amateur from age 17, he transitioned to the top competitive level in 2010 and became one of the most consistent performers in French and international trail running of his generation. He was selected to the French national trail team ten times — a record reflecting his sustained excellence — and earned two silver medals at the Trail World Championships in the long-distance discipline: in 2016 at Gerês, Portugal and again in 2022. He won the French Trail Championship in 2017 over the 60 km distance. His major race victories include the SaintéLyon (the historic 72 km Lyon-to-Saint-Étienne ultra), the High Trail Vanoise in July 2016, and the Trail du Ventoux in 2016. He runs for Brooks and remains active on the competitive trail circuit, continuing to represent France at world-level events.
