About
Nikki Wynd is an Australian ultrarunner who took up running in 2010 after joining friends for the Oxfam Trailwalker and discovered an exceptional talent for extreme long distances. Within five years she had won the Badwater 135-mile ultramarathon — the legendary race run through Death Valley, California in the height of summer — finishing 4th outright in 27 hours 23 minutes at the 2015 edition, a result that also set a new women's age-group record for athletes over 40 and placed her among the three fastest female finishers in the race's history. She has represented Australia eight times in national teams for both the 24-hour and 100 km disciplines, holds the Australian 48-hour national record, and has won races at distances ranging from the marathon up to 343 km across multiple continents. One of Australia's most versatile and respected ultra competitors, she combines podium results across road, track, and trail ultra formats.
