About
Óscar Pérez López is a Spanish ultrarunner and mountaineer from Aragón whose background spans alpinism, ski mountaineering, rock climbing, ice climbing, trail running, and mountain biking — a complete mountain athlete. Born around 1973, he rose to international prominence in 2012 when he won the third edition of the Tor des Géants — a 330 km, single-stage race that circumnavigates the highest massifs of the Aosta Valley in Italy — setting a course record of 75 hours 56 minutes 31 seconds that shattered the previous mark by approximately four hours. That same year he also won the Ultra-Trail d'Andorre (170 km) and the Grand Raid Occitane, following his 2011 Grand Raid des Pyrénées victory. Beyond the race circuit, Pérez demonstrates the same extraordinary endurance in mountaineering: in July 2014 he and two partners linked all 3,000-metre peaks of the Pyrenees in a continuous non-stop traverse of 730 km with approximately 66,000 m of positive elevation gain. He has also served as technical director of the Trail Valle de Tena, the Spanish Championship race for ultra mountain running.
