About
Pascal Parny is a French ultra-trail specialist born in 1969 who works as a firefighter at the La Plaine-des-Palmistes fire station on Réunion Island, the volcanic French department in the Indian Ocean that hosts one of trail running's most demanding races. He won the Grand Raid de la Réunion — known as the Diagonale des Fous — in 2001 over the 125km distance in 16 hours, and again in 2008 over the longer 148km course in 21 hours, 40 minutes and 48 seconds, cementing his place among the race's most accomplished champions. He went on to compete at the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc in 2009, carrying his Réunion-honed mountain endurance to the Alps.
