About

Patrycja Bereznowska is a Polish ultrarunner and multiple world record holder in 24-hour and 48-hour running events, born on October 17, 1975, in Wieliszew, Poland. She ran her first half-marathon in 2008 and her first ultramarathon in 2013, ascending to the top of the global timed-event circuit with remarkable speed. In 2017 she broke the women's 24-hour world record twice within twelve weeks — running 256.246 km in April before setting the definitive mark of 259.991 km at the IAU 24-Hour World Championships in Belfast, where she took the gold medal. She set the women's 48-hour world record at the UltraPark Weekend in Pabianice, Poland in 2022 (403.32 km), then reclaimed and surpassed it in 2025 with 436.371 km, breaking Camille Herron's interim record of 435.336 km by just over a kilometre. Named IAU Athlete of the Year in 2022, she has also competed at the Spartathlon, one of the world's most storied road ultras. Her pacing consistency across the longest fixed-time events is regarded as among the finest ever demonstrated by a female endurance athlete.
