About

Peter Mortimer is an American ultrarunner and multi-day ultra specialist from Flagstaff, Arizona — one of trail running's highest-altitude training communities at 7,000 feet — who came to distance running at the age of 30 through the Hash House Harriers, a social running club, after spending his earlier adult years without competitive sport. Within a year of his first short runs he was completing half marathons; within two, his first marathon. Introduced to trail running by his partner Cisca, he entered his first Aravaipa trail race in 2013 and placed third at the Javelina Jangover 75k on his ultra debut in 2014. He went on to podium at 19 events, culminating in second place in the men's race at the inaugural Cocodona 250 in 2021 — the first running of the 250-mile point-to-point traverse of Arizona's most dramatic mountain and desert terrain — and a victory at the inaugural Arizona Monster 300. An endurance coach through his 8 More Miles Coaching practice and a specialist on the long-form desert ultra terrain of his home state, Mortimer is one of the most consistently competitive athletes in the growing field of 200-plus-mile events in the American Southwest.
