About
Wyan Chow Pui-Yan is a Hong Kong trail runner and personal trainer who came to endurance sport as an adult after choosing to transform her lifestyle — beginning with road running and rapidly progressing to marathons and off-road triathlons before committing to trail running. Her competitive breakthrough arrived at the Vibram Hong Kong 100 Ultra Trail Race: she won the event in January 2014 in what was then the women's world record time for the course, becoming one of the fastest women ever to complete the 100km race across Hong Kong's notoriously hilly and technical terrain. She backed that result up with a second HK100 victory in 2015, setting a new course record that shaved more than two minutes off the existing mark. A respected figure within the Hong Kong running community, she has worked to make endurance sport accessible to under-represented groups, including guiding and supporting low-sighted athletes in completing marathons and reaching Everest Base Camp. She lives in Yuen Long and trains regularly on Tai Mo Shan, Hong Kong's highest peak, which forms the centrepiece of her training routine.
