Ricky Denesik is a Telluride, Colorado-based ultrarunner who won the inaugural-era Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run outright in 1998 (30:12:31) on his first attempt at the race. He has finished Hardrock at least seven times, including a 3rd-place overall finish in 2008 (30:21:23) and age-group wins in 2012, 2015, and 2016, and has served on the Hardrock Hundred board of directors. Before turning to ultrarunning, he set the Colorado 14ers speed record twice — 15 days 9 hours 55 minutes with Rick Trujillo in 1995, then a new mark of 12 days 15 hours 35 minutes in 2000 for climbing all of Colorado's 14,000-foot peaks. He also won the Western States 100 M50 age-group in 2012 (20:58:39) and the HURT 100 M50 age-group the same year.
