Rosanna Pellizzari is an Italian ultrarunner nicknamed "Regina delle Sabbie" (Queen of the Sands) for back-to-back victories at the Marathon des Sables, the roughly 240km multi-stage Sahara desert race, in 1997 and 1998. She began racing recreationally with the Mombocar club in Verona in 1978 and ran her first competitive 100km race, the 100 km del Passatore (Florence–Faenza), in 1996, finishing as the top Italian woman. Beyond her two Marathon des Sables titles, she placed second twice and fourth once in later editions of the race. She has since shifted from racing to long alpine treks.
