Sarah Keyes is an American trail runner, coach, and advocate based in Saranac Lake, New York, in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, who won the 2016 US Skyrunning Series in both the Vertical Kilometer and Ultra Distance categories. A sponsored athlete with Julbo and La Sportiva, she coaches at Eastern Mountain Endurance and serves on the American Trail Running Association advisory board. Her first Western States 100 in 2017 ended in severe foot pain that forced her to walk the final 30 miles in nearly 29 hours; she returned in 2021 — after placing third at the Black Canyon 100K to earn a Golden Ticket — and responded with 12th in 21:47, ahead of former champion Clare Gallagher. A consistent voice for community and coaching in the American mountain ultra scene.
