About
Stephanie Ehret (born January 12, 1963) is an American ultrarunner from Boulder, Colorado, and one of the most accomplished female long-distance competitors in North American ultrarunning history. A founding member of the original Montrail/Patagonia Ultrarunning Team, Ehret began racing ultras in 1996 and went on to complete more than 40 events spanning 28 to 710 miles, winning four races outright (men and women combined), claiming 18 women's category victories, setting eight course records, and earning four 100-mile national championships. Her résumé spans every ultra format: she won the Javelina Jundred outright in 2003 in 17 hours 38 minutes, finished second female at Leadville Trail 100 in 1999 (22:17), placed third female at Western States 100 in 2000 (21:45), and represented the United States at the IAU 24-Hour World Challenge in 2004, finishing with 140.16 miles — a bronze medal performance that ranked third on the all-time American women's list at the time. The range of her achievements — from looped 24-hour track events to desert centuries to multi-day expeditions — marks her as one of the most complete ultrarunners of her generation, and her early work on the Montrail/Patagonia team helped establish the professional infrastructure that supports female ultrarunners today.
